USD 373 announces the hire of Joe Sample as Assistant Superintendent/Director of Instructional Services following the retirement of current assistant superintendent, Sheila Wendling.
Sample has served in the Superintendent role since 2017, first in USD 495 Fort Larned and most recently in USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley.
Sample earned a Bachelor of Arts in History/Secondary Education from Baker University, then a Master of Science in School Leadership from Baker University. He earned his District Leadership Licensure from Newman University in 2017 and is currently working on his Doctorate of Educational Leadership through Baker University.
His primary role will be overseeing curriculum at all K-12 schools. Sample looks forward to bringing his experience in lesson planning, curriculum mapping, assessment systems, intervention systems and curriculum adoption to USD 373.
“During the interview process, I had the opportunity to meet with a number of staff and community members and they were so warm and welcoming. I am greatly looking forward to working in such a positive environment,” Sample shared.
Sample, his wife Ashley, and his four children, Henry, Lucy, George and Opal will be making the move to Newton soon. He will start in his new role over the summer.
