Nearly 100 people gathered inside the brand new Newton High School electrical classroom on Thursday, September 26.
The Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, Harvey County Economic Development Council, Hutchinson Community College and other partners celebrated the culmination of over a year of collaboration with USD 373 and Kansas Electric to create the classroom which they hope will grow tomorrow's electricians.
Additionally, Kansas Electric owner, Tim Sweigart, presented a $50,000 check to the electric apprenticeship program, which currently serves eight students.
