NHS Business teacher named NBEA Teacher of the Year

Newton High School business teacher Jessica Crabtree is the National Business Education Association's Secondary Teacher of the Year!

Mrs. Crabtree received this award at the NBEA annual convention in Cincinnati for her outstanding achievements, dedication to students, and positive impact made in the field of education.

"I was so honored and excited! I love what I get to do everyday so getting recognized for that was very exciting," Crabtree said.

At NHS, Crabtree teaches Accounting  I and II, Business Essentials, Teaching as a Career, along with coordinating internships, serving as the NHS Business/Family and Consumer Sciences department chair and advisor for Business Professionals of America (BPA). On the district level, she is part of the District Leadership Team and serves as a PLC Facilitator.

"It comes as no surprise that Mrs. Crabtree won this award. She has done absolutely amazing things for students not only in the classroom, but on the national level," NHS Principal Chad Nulik said.

Crabtree has worked in USD 373 for 12 years.
